Occasionally you come across elephants whose job it is to perform various poojas and blessings.  In fact in June an elephant came round to our front door begging for bananas in return for a blessing. 
We haven't got any pictures of that particular elephant but here's another we saw at Imran's Aunties house.  He was in town to take part in a procession.

Boating in the backwaters at Ullal

Everyone who thinks about it thinks that all the backwaters in India are in Kerala but Mangalore, which is situated on the mouth of two rivers has lots of scenic backwaters too, though ours don't have state of the art tourist boats on.

The most famous street entertainers in India are the Hijras (eunuchs) like the group we saw at Manasa. 
The Hirjas, like the elephants are supposed to have supernatural powers and can bless or curse you.  The other sort, below are just people who do tricks.
