'Sanjivani' - Our House

We decided, partly because of needing storage for the scooters and partly for a change to move out of The Presidium into an independent house where we won't have people hassling us all the time and trying to look in our fridge so we've moved to the north of a city, where its a bit more peaceful and isolated.  Our house is the last house at the top of a little lane.

Its also Rs 2500 per month cheaper than the last place.  Monthly rent....80 quid.

Garden
There's loads of great things about the house.  It's the last house at the top of a narrow lane and has a view over a small palm tree valley.  There's a big garden with a banana orchard and coconut palms all around and instead of Mosques, trains, rickshaws and hymns and hindi film music blaring all around it's all rustling palm trees, crickets and birds.

General
Its a three bedroom lower floor of a detached house with 2 bathrooms - one western and one Indian.  Its brand new, with a fitted kitchen and a safe. No-one lives upstairs yet.  Its like living in a village, there are a couple of general stores at the bottom of the lane and about 10 minutes walk up the hill to a restaurant with beer garden.

Barbecues
Now that we have a big garden and our own privacy we can have barbecues. We made this one out of a big cast iron Biryani Pot and inside it is a coal basket made from a giant sieve kind of thing that's normally used for for making biscuits.
