They are building a new complex at the end of
Sturrock Road. I have decided to keep an eye on its progress cos I've got
nothing better to do. So far I have seen no diggers used or power tools.
Only a cement mixer (I think a 6:4).
They have dug these massive square holes out
of the ground that I think are going to be footings. They mixed up loads of
concrete and laid about 8 inches in the bottom of these holes.
When they laid the cement they had a chain
where some blokes carried metal tins of cement dust to the mixer on their
heads. Another few were passing water that's in those drums there.
Occasionally the mixer operator emptied onto the floor. Then about five
people carried it one by one in tins to one of the holes. They chucked it in
the hole and there was a bloke in there patting it all down like screeding.
It's amazingly flat considering it was done by patting.
They also built these pillars out of blocks
and cement. They are scattered around the site.
