We’ve got a nice flat. Better than we thought we’d get and considering the poverty and that there are a lot of luxury apartments in this city. It's in a new complex block. It costs 9000 per month including maintenance charge (security included), which is about 130 pounds p/month. Unfurnished…but we will buy stuff that we will not mind shipping back.

We had to buy a gas hob and found this amazing innovation in outside cooking. LPG hob for wokking, cost about 10 pounds.

The flat has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, balcony access (i.e. one balcony, two doors alright) for each bedroom, big living area, big kitchen, cable TV, and servant’s toilet (yes I will persuade Emma that to not have a servant is an insult to the Indian way).

Apparently a servant costs 1000 p/month (about 15 pounds) to come five days a week to clean and do cooking preparation etc.
