Mischief Restaurant One of our favourite restaurants. Upstairs is the very modern Mischief Bar,
where they play three years old trance music. You can eat snacks and drink
strong beer. It's loud and you get the usual attentive waiting service. No
women except Emma frequent this establishment. |

Lawnsway Bar/Restaurant This is our local. It's an old Colonial building. It has the only lawn in Mangalore. It's very cheap and great for outdoor drinking but don't order mutton biryani cos you only get mutton bones. Unless you like bone curry of course. Best for fish and Raja Special (the second best Raja Special in town). |

Both The Lawnsway and Madhuvan restaurants have resident sparrows that have made their nests in light fittings above tables.

Madhuvan 24hr Coffee Shop
This is one of our favoured hang outs, especially after swimming. It's cheap and you've got to eat with only your hands. A Thali (see picture right) costs just 25 Rupees (about 30p) - big dinner including refills and unlimited rice. Tomato soup starter with croutons is not pictured.
